In the Marina Bay area of southern Singapore there is Gardens by the Bay, a futuristic park. The 101 hectare park was opened in 2012 after the government expressed its desire to have more nature in the city.
Discover Gardens by the Bay
The garden is divided in three parts : Bay South Garden, Bay Central Garden and Bay East Garden.
Bay South Garden is the largest and most active part. There is a dragonfly lake and the Supertree Grove. These are giant metal trees that make great light shows and panoramas.
You can also visit the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest. There are two greenhouses housing over 250,000 varieties of rare and endangered plants. The first one takes us on a journey through the gardens, which are laid out according to the different regions of the world. The second reproduces a tropical climate in altitude.
What makes Gardens by the bay so special
What makes Bay South Garden so special is its orchid-shaped design, as it is the symbol of Singapore. These two domes represent the petals of the orchid, and all the paths leading from there are its roots.
Bay Central Garden is still in development, but will be mainly promenades. Bay East Garden is a water-themed area. It has several areas such as fountains, water games, and even a toddler area.
On top of all that, it’s a public park : admission is free. It’s the opportunity to go for a walk in Singapore…
